The Markham Inn in London is a great place to hit up for either brunch (even with the kids as they have a lovely childrens menu) or dinner. At night there’s live music and a great buzzing atmosphere (although it is loud you are warned). Food is delicious and I can personally recommend the following: shrimp and scallop tempura, wild mushroom risotto with truffles, burger, steak frites and for dessert the mango passion fruit cheesecake is to die for.

My lovely friend Kate just threw this fabulous birthday party for her 1 year old daughter. I wanted to share it with you guys as it’s just adorable! Here’s what Kate had to say:

“We always called Sophia our little ladybug, so the theme naturally fit. 60 guests—a mix of adults and kiddies on our rooftop in Long Island City on a beautiful warm Saturday in May. I had the printed invites and decorations custom made (friend did the invites—Askew Design), the cake was from a hometown bakery in Trenton, NJ, there was a facepainter and we celebrated the traditional Korean first birthday Dol as a nod to her Aunt Grace (who took all the party pics) where we place different items in front of her and depending on what she chooses, it symbolizes her life’s path (book: scholar, paintbrush: artist, creative type, piggy bank: wealth) We had the guests vote on what she would choose and then Sophia picked out a name from the winning guesses and that person won a small prize. We also played pin the ladybug on the sunflower (a take on pin the tail on the donkey).”

Isn’t it great!? Well done Mamma Kate! xoxo
